KOBOX Frequently Asked Questions

KOBOX Boxing Classes

What is KOBOX?

KOBOX is no ordinary boxing club. KOBOX is 50-minute high intensity boxing classes for all fitness levels set in state-of-the-art fitness spaces where fight club meets nightclub. When the class starts the lights go down low, the sound system kicks in and the fun begins.

Every KOBOX class is broken down into two parts. For half of the class, our trainers will take you through our signature 6-punch combinations system, which will be projected on the walls or screens for you to follow. For the other half, they'll have you working up a sweat with a range of functional training exercises, focusing on a different body part each day.

KOBOX mixes boxing technique with high intensity interval training (HIIT) for an incredible workout. Whether you're a seasoned pro or boxing beginner, you can take the class at your own pace in your own space. It's about working hard, sweating lots and punching life in the face, TOGETHER.

What if it's my first time at KOBOX?

If it’s your first time at KOBOX then welcome! Please arrive at least 15 minutes early and attend the class induction. In the induction the trainer will take you through each of the boxing combos and guide you on positioning and technique. They can also assist you with your hand wraps and gloves if you need some help.

If you are new to KOBOX and not there by the time the induction starts, you cannot attend class.

What happens in a typical KOBOX class?

Every KOBOX class is broken down into two parts. For half of the class, the trainer will take you through our signature 6-punch combinations system, which will be projected on the walls or screens for you to follow. For the other half, they'll have you working up a sweat with a range of functional training exercises on ‘the wall’, focusing on a different body part each day. Each trainer runs their classes slightly differently keeping every class varied and fun.

I’ve never done boxing before, can I do KOBOX?

Yes you can! We want everyone to experience the high of a KOBOX class whatever your experience. You don’t need to have ever boxed before. Our class induction will take you through everything you need to know. And when the class starts the lights go down low and it’s just you and the bag. Everyone is welcome at KOBOX.

What should I wear for class?

We recommend you wear activewear and gym trainers. You’ll be moving around a lot in class and you’ll be working up a sweat.

Do I need to bring any equipment?

To participate in a KOBOX class you will need to wear hand wraps and boxing gloves. Hand wraps are included in our introductory package or can be purchased at the front desk. You should bring these to every class.

Boxing gloves are provided. However if you prefer to bring your own, your gloves must be closed and must be a minimum of 10 OZ to be used in a KOBOX class.Hand wraps must also be worn if you are using your own gloves.

Can I do KOBOX if I’m pregnant?

Yes. We have many Pregnant KOBOXER's. Speak to your practitioner regarding exercise first before attending and make sure you notify your instructor immediately as you enter class so that they can give you modifications and keep a friendly eye on you. If you've never come to KOBOX before you're still welcomed but as the health advice states try not to take something new on. So if you've not boxed and your body isn't used to the twists, double check with your practitioner first.

Can I do KOBOX if I’m injured?

It totally depends on your injury and how it may affect your ability to take the class. Always make sure you tell the instructor of your injury before class starts as they will be able to give you modifications. Or you can always drop an email to our studio and our lovely front of house team will pass your question onto an instructor.

What if I need to leave class early?

You can leave class early but we please ask that you make a quiet and swift exit to reduce disruption to your fellow KOBOXER's in class.

Can I bring my things into the studio with me?

We ask that you put all your belongings into our lockers. If you have jewellery that you don't want to leave in a locker please hand it to your instructor and they can keep it save on the instructor desk but this is at your own risk and we/instructor are not liable for your belongings.

KOBOX Equipment

Why do I need to wear hand wraps when boxing?

Wearing hand wraps ensures that your hands have maximum protection when boxing. Worn underneath boxing gloves, wraps provide an additional protective barrier to the small and fragile joints and bones within the hands. We cannot allow you to take class without wearing wraps, even if you have your own gloves.

KOBOX wraps are included within our introductory offer or can be purchased in studio for £5 (standard wraps) or £10 (gel wraps).

Can I borrow boxing gloves?

Yes you can. Boxing gloves are available outside of each studio for you to use. Boxing gloves must be worn over your hand wraps for the boxing sections of a KOBOX class. The boxing gloves are cleaned thoroughly between each use and no pair of boxing gloves will be used more than once in a day.

What happens if I forget my hand wraps?

Wraps are required. We cannot allow you to take class without wearing wraps, even if you have your own gloves. If you forget your wraps you can buy more at any KOBOX location for £5 (standard wraps) or £10 (gel wraps).

Can I bring my own boxing gloves?

Yes you can. However, your gloves must be closed and must be a minimum of 10 OZ to be used in a KOBOX class.Hand wraps must also be worn if you are using your own gloves.

Booking & Cancellation

How do I book a KOBOX class?

You can book a KOBOX class via our website timetable or at the studio reception desk.

What do W, B and DB mean when I book?

When booking a class you will see a floorplan and need to select a W, B or DB spot before confirming your booking.

W = Wall

B = Bag

DB = Double Bag

In every KOBOX class you'll alternate between boxing with a bag and high intensity exercises on the wall. If you book a wall spot you'll start on the wall and swap to a bag at points in the class and vice versa. If you choose a DB spot you will box for the duration of the class, and will not take part in the wall section.

What is the cancellation policy for KOBOX sessions?

All in-studio classes have a 12 hour cancellation policy, if cancelled less than 12 hours we will not be able to return your class credit.

If you are on an unlimited membership you will get a £10 no show fee.

What happens if I’m late for class?

Unfortunately non-first-timer late comers cannot enter class 5 minutes past the start time of the class.

If it's your first time at KOBOX you must arrive 15 minutes early to take part in the class induction. If you do not arrive in time to attend the induction you will not be able to take part in the class.
